Linda Armstrong - Mornings 7:00-10:00

LINDA'S Bio and Fun Facts:

Date of Birth: July 6th. Back in the 1900s.

Family: Husband Barry, daughters Rebecca and Rachel.

More About Linda: I was born and raised in Gananoque (Indian) Ontario, Canada in a Christian home. I have one older sister who still lives in Ontario. I was saved when I was 4 years old. Both my Father and Mother were always active in church and so was I (drama, music – I played the piano, accordion, organ plus sang in choirs, duets, trios). I was on the Bible Quiz Team for 3 years (as a teen) where we competed nationally. One summer we memorized the entire book of John! As an adult now, I am so thankful for that grounding. Throughout High School I was in public speaking competitions and was Valedictorian at my High School graduation. (That year, the top 5 students with the highest grade point average were chosen then the graduating class voted on their Valedictorian. I was elected!) I pursued a nursing career and three years later I graduated as an RN. Because I was so timid and shy, being a Christian throughout my education years was very difficult. I was often ostracized, made fun of and ignored. (Christians were not popular then!) It was only by God’s strength and my stubbornness that I got through it. Once married, I transitioned from nursing to ministry where I have been now for many years. Who would ever have thought that my public speaking experiences would result in my being in radio? That was God!!

Most notable answer to prayer in my life: We were living in Canada (Toronto) and Barry was V.P. for a large religious organization. He commuted three hours a day. He'd leave before the girls were out of bed and return when they were going to bed. I remember kneeling beside my bed, crying "God this is no life, I don't want my girls growing up without a dad actively involved in their lives. Please do something." Six months later he was "let go." I was shocked and devastated at this answer! But six months later we were in Virginia building Spirit FM.

Linda's Family Married on Sept. 22, 1975 to a wonderful visionary – Barry. Because we have always been involved in ministry, we have travelled, lived in several different states and two countries. We have two daughters, Rebecca 24 and Rachel 23, a smart but old Belgian sheep dog, Cody and a “people-hater” cat, Callie. (She was brought home by our girls while we were out of town on a business trip!) Parenting has been challenging but God has kept His Hand on both girls who are strong Christian young ladies. I am so grateful!.

Favorite Bible Story/Book: Daniel chapter 3. The story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. A story of faith, deliverance, and success.

Favorite Scripture: OK. This is difficult. I have so many! Today my favorite is Lamentations 3:22, 23 “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness”.

Favorite Vacation Spot: Anyplace that's near the water.

Favorite Food: I have to choose? Hmmm – anything chocolate, raspberry or lemon. But in memory of my Mom, who passed away in September of 07., I’ll have to say, my Mom’s home-made butter tarts. She made the best!! Her recipe is being passed down to my daughters.
